Be prepared to give an answer

Earlier today I was visited by two ladies representing Jehovah Witness'. I stepped outside and witness to them but I could not remember a key verse found in the book of Revelations that could have helped. Remember to study your bible. My lack of study showed my ignorance.

Never Forget

Seven years ago our country was attacked by a group of terrorists. For some and maybe most, our lives will never be the same. Let us not forgot the men and women that died on September 11, 2001.
I also encourage everyone to take the time to thank any military personel that you see wearing their uniform. I started doing this earlier in the year and really enjoy seeing the look on their face.

Promise Keepers 2008

This past weekend my friend, Alan and I, went to Promise Keepers in Cleveland, Ohio. I was very rejuvenated after Saturday afternoon. The same message was pretty much given this year as last year. It seemed this year was more crystal clear. Right now 65% of men in the church are struggling with some kind of addiction and that includes me. We need each other. We need to get connected with one another. We need to keep ourselves accountable. We cannot do this alone. We need to go through the battle together in order to protect our families and friends.
Two of the speakers I heard this weekend were Samuel Rodriguez and Ricky Rigsby. They had awesome messages and were very passionate. I urge you to go to promisekeepers.org. There you will find a lot of useful material. Men, we to need to stand up and fight .

They Are Here!

I heard a man say that him and his wife were watching a movie at home that had pretty vulgar language in it. His father-in-law was also there and asked his son-in-law what he would do if someone came over to their house and starting swearing and being vulgar. The son-in-law said very angrily, "I would kick them out." in which the father-in-law replied, "They are here." If you watch movies that blaspheme God and use explicit language it's like inviting that behavior into your house.
As parents, and even the dad's reading this, we need to protect our families from this. Raise our children the way God want's us to.

You Choose

WGNR, the local Christian radio station, was playing a recording of a lady that had called in and left a message on their answering machine. She was talking about her marriage going through some rough times. She said when she listened to country music, she wanted to kill herself and when she listened to rock-n-roll, she wanted to kill her husband. Music has gotten that bad. Over the years the message has become so negative. Of course most people don't notice because of the gradual decline of how things become. I heard on some DVD's that I have, of what the 2 young boys that shot their classmates at Colmbine H.S. were listening to. The lyrics were very disturbing. Be careful what you listen to.

To Hell With Ozzy?

I saw an associate of mine yesterday who had a shirt with Ozzy Ozbourne on it. Ozzy was on the side of the road like he was hitchhiking, holding a sign that read Hell. I can't imagine somebody wanting to go to hell, especially if they knew what was waiting for them. Some people over the years have told me that stuff like that is for publicity or part of the act. I remember watching CNN a few years ago with my oldest and seeing Marilyn Manson on there ripping out the pages of the bible. That image is still burned in my son's mind. He wasn't influenced by Manson's actions but knew that when it came to blasphemy, it's best not to mess with it.
This leads me to my point. Wheather entertainers are doing these things for show or publicity, they have to answer to God for their actions.
They also have a major influence on adults and children who listen to their music or see them on t.v. Kids get the impression that if Ozzy says hell is ok then they think it must be ok. We need parents leading our children, not Ozzy Ozbourne.

So Long Brother

On April 15, 2008 one of my best friends left to be with the Lord. His wife Mary called me a little past 4am to tell me the news. I was delivering newspapers listening to one of my favorite shows, the David Stein show. It was hard to digest exactly what I heard. The time that I had spent with Ken was short but I feel I knew him a lifetime. He was my spiritual brother and I often called him my "Bro".
Honestly, in the weeks since his birth into eternity with Jesus, I have felt bitter. A lot of things just don't feel the same and I realize I have to move on and stop feeling selfish. Ken, I miss you very much and I know you are having one heavenly time.
